Charles Shyer

Charles Shyer has found commercial success as a writer, director, and producer on hit films including Private Benjamin, Father of the Bride, The Parent Trap, Irreconcilable Differences, and Alfie. Shyer teamed up with Nancy Meyers to write and produce Private Benjamin, winning a Writer’s Guild Award, and an Academy Award nomination, for Best Original Screenplay. He made his directorial debut on Irreconcilable Differences, and followed up by directing and co-writing the hit film Baby Boom with Diane Keaton. Shyer remade the classic film, Father of the Bride, and co-wrote and directed the wildly popular Father of the Bride, Part II. Shyer also co-wrote and produced the remake of The Parent Trap, before switching gears for the period drama, The Affair of the Necklace, starring Hilary Swank, Adrien Brody, and Simon Baker.
